Unlock your creative eye through a hands-on journey with both traditional and modern photography tools. We introduce the art of 35mm film and mobile phone photography while guiding you in editing and visual storytelling. Build a solid foundation in camera and editing techniques and blend analog skills with digital convenience. Whether you're drawn to the tactile charm of analog or the immediacy of digital, this course helps you find your unique photographic voice and leave with a mini portfolio.

Required materials: A 35mm film camera or smartphone with a camera, photo editing apps (free or trial versions)

  • Week 1: Foundations of Photography – camera types, exposure settings, composition principles, 35mm and mobile phone photography
  • Week 2: Handling and shooting with a smartphone or digital camera. Understanding light, timing, and film types. Slowing down: the mindful side of photography
  • Week 3: Mobile phone photography - Lighting, focus and perspective; techniques for impactful and aesthetic photography
  • Week 4: Editing tools and techniques - smartphone editing apps (Snapseed, Lightroom and others), color correction, cropping and filter use
  • Week 5: Creative projects and storytelling - Developing a theme for visual storytelling: (emotion, space and narrative), creating a mini photo series

Week 6: Showcase and reflection - Present your final project, reflection and next steps
