Who doesn’t want to become happier? We explore the foundations of happiness and well-being, based on the latest scientific findings from the fields of positive psychology, mindfulness, neuroscience and philosophical principles. What is true happiness? What are the factors that contribute to a more fulfilling life? And how can I elevate my personal level of happiness in my later years?
We explore and encourage self-reflection, meditation, critical thinking and the application of evidence-based practices. The classes are designed to be reflective and interactive, with simple activities, exercises and discussion built into the curriculum. Become equipped with fresh ideas, tools and strategies to help you build and lead a happier, more fulfilling life.
Materials: Small notebook and pencil or pen
- Week 1: Introductions, group share, focus of positive psychology field, pizza and s-p-i-r-e models.
- Week 2: Nature vs. nurture, set point theory, discovering inner strengths, happiness boosters
- Week 3: Mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, happiness archetypes, fixed vs. growth mindset
- Week 4: “Type C” personality, stress rating scale, shifting mindset, gratitude, pleasure, strengths
- Week 5: Life satisfaction and income, how much is enough, illusions of happiness, time affluence
- Week 6: Social media, impact bias, building healthy rituals and returns, healthy habits and relationships
