Sons of Doo-Wop, Part 2:1953-1963
In-Person Class | Available (Membership Required)
Picking up where we left off in Sons of Doo Wop, Part 1, we focus on additional too-often overlooked American male harmony groups that combined elements of pop, rock and Doo-Wop music. These groups created a sound that defied easy categorization. As we did in Part 1, we cover the true story of how this dynamic new sound developed and increased in popularity, focusing not only on such Doo Wop superstars as The Four Seasons and Jay and the Americans, but also those groups who are historically significant, but are too often overlooked, such as The Harptones, The Duprees, and many more! It’s a fun course that will bring back fond memories for some, while introducing others to artists, songs, and historical tidbits that, hopefully, will both delight and surprise you! Enrollment in Part 1 is not necessary.
