The class will center around a discussion of current economic and financial challenges facing the United States and World economies. Interest rates, oil prices, unemployment, tariffs, and inflation are just a few of the challenges facing American consumers. Participants will break down these complex issues for a better understanding of current and possible future conditions. The discussion will lend itself to a strong intuitive understanding. You don’t have to be a professional to understand what is going on!

Martha Rowland

Martha Rowland is a retired academic economist from the University of Michigan-Dearborn College of Business Administration. She taught upper-level economics and finance courses. Rowland served on the faculty at University of Detroit Mercy and as Assistant Dean at Marygrove College prior to joining the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Rowland’s teaching experience includes courses in Europe and Asia, and extensive community-based volunteer financial literacy programing. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Presbyterian Villages of Michigan Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Northeast Michigan.
