Suburban hunger and the growing challenges many individuals and families face within suburban communities will be deeply explored in this class. Through shared experiences, community observations, and real-life examples, participants will learn how food insecurity impacts families, seniors, children, and individuals who are often overlooked. The discussion will also highlight ways communities, organizations, and volunteers can work together to build awareness, compassion, and meaningful solutions to address the hidden reality of suburban hunger.

Todd Lipa
Todd Lipa is the Executive Director of CARES in Farmington Hills, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing suburban hunger and supporting families in need throughout eight surrounding communities. Passionate about community service, collaboration, and volunteerism, Lipa has helped expand CARES into a growing “Campus of Hope” that provides food assistance, social services, community partnerships, and outreach programs focused on dignity, compassion, and respect for all.
Kitty Ostach
Kitty Ostach is the Assistant Executive Director of CARES in Farmington Hills, where she is a dedicated team member and advocate for individuals and families in need. Ostach has been actively involved in supporting programs focused on compassion, outreach, and community engagement. Through her work with CARES and other local initiatives, Ostach has helped bring awareness to the growing issue of suburban hunger while encouraging collaboration, understanding, and support for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
