The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) provides high-quality drinking water and recovers and treats wastewater for the greater metro Detroit region. This presentation will educate attendees as to how and why GLWA was created, the size and magnitude of the infrastructure and its importance to the region for public health and economic development.

Gary Mekjian
Gary Mekjian is a Farmington Hills native with more than 35 years of experience in the fields of civil engineering and public administration. Throughout his career, Mekjian has worked for several private and public sector organizations. Mekjian has spent the last 15 years with the City of Farmington Hills as Public Services Director, Assistant City Manager, and for the last five and a half years, as City Manager.
