Discover Ohio’s remarkable contributions to American history, innovation, and culture. Explore the Hopewell Earthworks, one of only 26 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the United States, and learn how Ohio helped shape the nation after independence. The class highlights the state’s connections to eight U.S. presidents, the Wright brothers, John Glenn, Harriet Beecher Stowe, John D. Rockefeller, and Toledo’s “Golden Rule” Jones. We’ll also celebrate Ohio’s rich legacy in aviation, space exploration, professional football, rock and roll, symphonic music, and world-class museums.

Thomas Sosnowski

Dr. Thomas C. Sosnowski is a native of Detroit. He earned a B.A. from the University of Detroit and Ph.D. from Kent State University (KSU). Sosnowski taught at KSU’s Stark Campus in Canton, Ohio for 41 years. He also studied French at Quebec’s Laval University and has traveled extensively. His primary research has focused on 17th and 18th century French history. Sosnowski has received Kent State University’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
