An introduction to crypto assets, focusing on Bitcoin and Ethereum. Participants will learn key concepts such as proof of work versus proof of stake, blockchain fundamentals, and smart contracts. The session also highlights crypto assets to avoid, including certain altcoins and NFTs. In addition, attendees will explore the pros and cons of using and investing in crypto for transactions or as part of a portfolio, gaining practical insights to navigate the evolving world of digital currency.

Thomas Shohfi
Tom Shohfi is an associate professor of finance at the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University. Before his role at Wayne State, he was a financial economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis. Earlier, Shohfi was an assistant professor of accounting and finance at the Lally School of Management and Technology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Shohfi is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and New York University.
