F2525 Michigan's Hooded Cowards: the Black Legion

Class | Registration opens Monday, September 15, 2025 10:00 AM EDT

In the early 20th century, Michigan faced dramatic demographic shifts as African Americans migrated north and immigrants arrived in search of opportunity. Amid this change, extremist groups like the Ku Klux Klan gained traction—and even more insidious was the rise of the Black Legion. This violent, secretive group cloaked its hate in patriotism while spreading fear, discrimination, and terror. In this eye-opening class, we’ll examine the origins, actions, and eventual downfall of the Black Legion, exposing how their corruption and brutality ultimately led to their self-destruction.
