By the late ‘50s, many pillars of early rock had left center stage: Elvis was in the Army, Little Richard went back to the Church, Jerry Lee Lewis was up on morals charges and Buddy Holly died in a plane crash. Innovations by Lieber & Stoller, Don Kirshner, Phil Spector and others helped shape the musical vibe of this period. We’ll hear how different styles were blended in the unlikeliest of combinations as we listen to artists like; The Shirelles, Del Shannon, The Drifters, Dion, Neil Sedaka, Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, The Everly Brothers and more.
