Veteran Detroit journalist and author John Gallagher presents the lessons he learned while covering Detroit for 32 years with the Detroit Free Press. A witness first to the city's decline and then its remarkable recovery, Gallagher recounts his experiences in his new memoir Rust Belt Reporter. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the class.

John Gallagher is a veteran journalist and author of multiple books including Reimagining Detroit, which the Huffington Post named among the best social and political books of 2010. He covered urban affairs for the Detroit Free Press before retiring in 2019. He now freelances, lectures, and works on book projects.
