Early 20th Century New Mexico Art Colonies

The route of the “Mother Road” through New Mexico highlights the artists that lived and settled there. This class will serve as an introduction to Southwest Art History, including the Taos Society of Artists, Cinco Pintores of Santa Fe, and Mabel Dodge Luhan. The early days of New Mexico and its allure for American artists will be examined and artists such as O'Keeffe, Couse, Sharp, Shuster, and more will be highlighted.

Sarah Zurick is an art educator with 15-plus years of experience in the museum profession in New Mexico. She worked as education program manager for 12 years at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, and now shares her expertise in the field with the New Mexico Museum of Art.
