From 1935 to 1946, some of the greatest songs were recorded not only by the "Girl" singers, but also by those "Boy" singers before and after the big band era ended. Singers like Eddy Howard, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Dick Haymes, and Al Hibbler recorded popular songs that are still heard today. This presentation was created specifically for SOAR. Stu Johnson will present these and other singers through slides and recorded renditions of “Sweet Lorraine,” “I Only Have Eyes for You, “Fools Rush In,” and many, many more.

Johnson, Stuart

In 2007, as an outreach of the Michigan Jazz Record Collectors (MJRC), Stu Johnson began and continues to lecture on jazz and jazz-related topics at numerous locations throughout the Metro Detroit area including libraries, the Adult Learning Institute, the Music Theatre class at U of D-Mercy, SOAR LLI, MORE Macomb, other senior groups and organizations, and at a convention of the International Association of Jazz Record Collectors.
