The presentation will describe the focus of professional development and instructional practices in light of the Next Generation Science Standards. It will also highlight the Square One Education Network’s efforts to bring the standards to life for K-12 students through programs that engage the students in the Science and Engineering Practices. Finally, it will describe how it all connects to workforce development.

Paul Drummond
Paul Drummond is an award-winning educator with forty-seven years of experience. Paul has been the president of the Metropolitan Detroit Science Teachers Association, the Michigan Science Teachers Association, and is the Secretary of the Square One Education Network. He is currently providing professional development and curriculum support for the Macomb Intermediate School District.
Barbara Land
Barb Land is the executive director at the Square One Education Network, a Michigan based non-profit. She is responsible for identifying, directing, and executing experiential programs that advance the organization’s mission in promoting STEM education in the next generation work force. With a 20+ year career in non-profit educational outreach, Land has served students, teachers, and industry partners with hands on, project based learning experiences.
