Gustav Klimt. Have you heard of him? Klimt enjoyed success as a contemporary artist. Marked by his "Golden Phase" with two of his more popular paintings - The Kiss and Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer Klimt introduced gold leaf to his method of painting. Join artist Luci Mistratova as she walks you through the process of using mixed media to create your own version a Klimt painting.

Discover how to use acrylics, gold leaf, foil, stamps, and permanent markers as you become versed in various painting techniques and immersed in color. This series will explore the "language" of art and pattern culminating in a beautiful, unique creation of your making.

  • JCPS will close the week of April 2 through April 6 for Spring Break. Louisville Learns classes will not hold classes during this week.
  • Supplies can be found at any craft/hobby store.
  • Acrylic Paints of your choice- including Carbon Black and Titanium White. Craft Smart acrylics at Michaels is very affordable
  • Matt medium- Golden, Liquitex or other brands
  • Gold leaf/imitation
  • Deco Foil and deco foil adhesive pen
  • Parchment Paper
  • 1- 20 x 16 canvas
  • Painting palette
  • Brushes- (bring your favorites) and 1" round, 1" flat, and 1 rough brush for medium application
  • Pencil 2b-6b and eraser
  • Black pen, fine permanent marker (Sharpies)
  • Scissors
  • Masking Tape
  • Palette knife or old credit cards
  • Tracing paper

Luci Mistratova studied at Kaliningrad University in Germany and brings her talent and passion for art alive. With a PhD in Art Education as well as being a member of the Kentucky Watercolor Society, Luci loves sharing her love of art with the community at large through acrylic and watercolor instruction.
