The Hidden Impact of Road Salt

Science Pub | This program is completed

Road salt keeps winter roads safe—but where does it go after the snow melts? Join us to learn about how road salt affects our lakes, streams, and other freshwater resources, and discover what researchers are learning about how those impacts may change as our climate warms.

  • As always, doors open in Galligan's Pub at 5 PM for those who would like to purchase food and/or drink ahead of the talk, which begins at 6 PM.

Kathryn Cottingham

Kathryn Cottingham is a professor of biology at Dartmouth College. Her research interests include the dynamics of lake plankton communities, linkages between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and the applications of ecological principles to public and environmental health.

My teaching responsibilities reflect these interests, as my courses involve immersive, hands-on engagement with biostatistics, the ecology of infectious disease, and ecological research.
