Every quilt has a story — and so does every museum! Join quilter and author Froncie Quinn for In the Time of Toile, an engaging presentation exploring the life and vision of Shelburne Museum founder, Electra Havermeyer Webb. This lecture provides a special preview of the Shelburne's toile and chintz collection of quilts and allows you to peer into the profusion of colors, patterns, styles, and history so evident during the early 19th century.

The following day, take a field trip to the Shelburne Museum to experience firsthand one of the largest art and history museums in New England. Enjoy a guided tour of the current exhibit, Varied and Alive: New and Rarely Seen Treasures from the Collection, which highlights selected pieces held by the museum, some not seen in decades. Learn why The Shelburne is considered ‘a foremost public resource for visual art and material culture.'

Join us! Reserve your spot and experience history, one stitch at a time. Field trip includes transportation, museum admission, and guided tour. Option to purchase lunch on site at The Weathervane Cafe.

Quinn, Froncie
Froncie Quinn

Froncie grew up in Bexley, OH, a suburb of Columbus. She began her quilting in an Ohio town adjoining Amish country where she was taught traditional skills. A move to NY resulted in Froncie teaching hand piecing classes at the local continuing education facilities.

Upon moving to Vermont, she developed a relationship with the Shelburne Museum and was invited to write patterns for their antique quilt collection. Because of this affiliation, she was invited to appear on HGTV’s Simply Quilts with quilter Alex Anderson. Froncie is also coauthor of the book, Enduring Grace: Quilts from the Shelburne Museum Collection and has been published in various magazines.

Froncie currently lives in New London, NH, with her husband.
