This class is open to all levels and examines how artists and community leaders use art and design to create solutions that support and foster healing and public health in their communities and the world at large.
Drawing from art history, museum studies, and cultural studies, this class will be of particular interest to artists seeking to learn more about the history of art and design in solving or responding to problems around physical and mental health, as well as anyone interested in discussing how art is used to respond to issues like environmental racism and mental health, including photography, fiber arts, narrative art, and architecture and design.
The class will involve a field trip, weekly discussions, and reflective in-class activities that bring together the course's key objectives and themes.
