Drawing in Public - Summer Sketching in DC with Francisco Galárraga
Short Class | Available
Drawing in Public is an outdoor sketching course that encourages students to engage directly with the visual energy and cosmpolitan nature of Washington, DC.
Meeting at locations such as Dupont Circle, the National Zoo, the National Arboretum, and the National Mall, participants will develop techniques for quickly capturing architecture, landscapes, animals and people, and movement from observation.
Emphasis will be placed on speed, simplification, composition, and visual note-taking, fostering greater confidence and spontaneity in the drawing process.
Students may bring whatever supplies they wish. A basic supply list for drawing is good, in addition to a sketchbook (medium to large).
Students must be weather-ready, and prepare sunscreen, bugspray, water and comfortable clothing. Hats are encouraged as shade may not always be available.
