Digital Drawing Fundamentals with Mike O'Brien
Workshop | Available
Digital drawing has become more accessible than ever. With just a tablet, digital pencil/stylus and Procreate, any artist can create fully digital work. This three-hour workshop will first introduce students to the principles of digital art with a lecture explaining the tools available and the practical details about file types, resolutions, color settings, image exports, and more.
Following the lecture, our instructor will share their own iPad screen as they lead students through the creation of a piece of art in Procreate.
The demonstration will cover:
- Creating a File / Canvas
- Guides + Grids
- Layers
- Brushes
- Colors
- Painting
- Smudging
- Erasing
- Selecting, Moving + Transforming
- Layer Adjustments + Effects
- Adding Photos + Text
Students are encouraged to attend with an iPad, Apple Pencil and Procreate ready to follow along and produce their own piece of art during the demonstration and ask questions of the instructor as they run into issues.
Other digital drawing tools (computers, tablets, software) are also welcome to be used, though instruction is focused on iPad, Apple Pencil, and Procreate.
If you are purchasing an iPad, Apple Pencil and Procreate please reference their compatibility for which iPad model and Apple Pencil to buy.
