Botanical Embroidery at U.S. Botanic Garden with Heather Kerley
Workshop | Available

Learn to translate a line drawing based on life into an embroidered botanical image. We will meet at the Botanical Gardens, where we will make a drawing of a favorite plant and then learn the basics of hand embroidery.
Students will choose a plant to inspire their design, draw it, and then learn how to transfer it onto a piece of fabric. We will then prepare their hoops and begin stitching using a few beginner stitches such as running stitch, backstitch, stem stitch, and french knots.
