The Painted Veil with Samantha Stover
Workshop | Available
A portrait (& hat) workshop about seeing and not seeing; disambiguation and obscurity; the gaze within and beyond the shadows. We will work with the model in a 2-day long pose featuring a headdress or large hat.
Demonstrations will be in oil. Participants may work in any medium but painting is suggested.
Instruction will be on the structure and significance of:
- The skull and facial features as they relate to hair mass, neck and collar bone.
- Light and shadow as it reveals or conceals the portrait.
- Effects of opacity and transparency.
