Intermediate Painting with Reem Bassous (8 WKS)
Class | Available
This Intermediate Painting course is designed to build upon the skills learned in Beginning Painting but is more importantly a preparation for the advanced painting classes to follow. In this course students will be challenged with a variety of concepts and approaches to painting, dealing with both historical and contemporary issues. Major movements in art history will be explored and ways of applying them in currently relevant methods will be emphasized. Beyond painting, this course will offer you a wide range of references from the art world past and present, and students will also be responsible for furthering their own research.
Individual as well as group critiques will be conducted. In addition to assignments, students may be given handouts or reading assignments to be studied and thereafter discussed in class. After thorough completion of all the course’s requirements, students should have a strong technical ability coupled with an understanding of color and personal preferences in painting. Only after serious dedication can a student expect to move onto the next level of painting.
