Color Monotype w/ Jorge Vara Hernandez

Class | Registration opens 3/2/2026 12:00 AM EST

In this course students will focus on creating color monotypes. Students will learn how to use traditional materials to prepare a copper plate for printing. In addition, they will learn additive and subtractive monotype techniques, mark making and color theory including temperature, value, harmony and dissonance, as well as color layering, ink modifications, and ink substitutions. This course will be beneficial for artists looking for a link between drawing and painting. All levels are welcome, however previous monotype printmaking experience is recommended.
