2026 Teen Summer Program Details:
Ages 14-18
Monday, July 6th through Friday, July 31st (4 weeks)
Monday - Friday, 10 am - 4 pm
Tuition Fee: $1950 (all supplies included)
Join our four-week intensive teen workshop this summer and work with practicing artists through various approaches to making art. The class will transition to a new focus each week starting with drawing, moving on to painting, printmaking, and cyanotypes, as students get to experience studying under 4-5 different faculty members. Students will be divided into two groups, working on different floors, but will come together for lunch and critiques. Additionally, students will learn how to put together a portfolio and assist in a portfolio-review session. The program will conclude with a final one-day exhibition of select artwork from every student in the school's gallery. WSS will host students and their families for a reception on the last day of the program.
Families are encouraged to apply for a scholarship! More information can be found here.
Registration is in 3 parts:
1. Payment.
2. A questionnaire for your teen will be part of the checkout process.
3. A visual essay or written essay is also required as preparation before the program starts. This work is shared with faculty and the Artistic Director. Deadline: Tuesday, June 30th.
Teens must send a visual creative essay or a written essay with a choice of the following prompts:
- In what ways do you transform challenges into creative expression?
- How does your art remind you of your inner power?
A visual essay is preferred but a written essay may be submitted; all submitted essays must be original, expressive pieces. Visual artwork and/or written essays must directly respond to one of the prompts. Please send your original files (PDF & Images) to admin@washingtonstudioschool.org with an introduction of your work.
This year's teen program faculty will be announced at a later date.
