Image Theory at the NGA with Jo Weiss

In this four-week class, the instructor will guide students through an in-depth engagement at the National Gallery of Art on how painted images are made and why. Mark-making, space, paint as flesh, and other topics will be analyzed and questioned over the four weeks.
This is strictly a lecture course. Note-taking, reading, and engagement are important components of this class.
Students at the intermediate/advanced level are encouraged to take this class, as well as students in our Certificate Program.
Classes will be held on Federal Holidays unless otherwise communicated by your instructor.
This is a lecture series from 10 AM to 12PM (2 hours). All classes will be held at the NGA. Your instructor will communicate the location of the meet-up area before the start of the term.
Please note that no class will be held on Friday, February 6th. The final class will resume on Friday, February 13th.
