Soft Sculpture with Lauren Crawford
Class | Available
Textiles inherently lend themselves to three-dimensional form. They can be shaped, stitched, and structured to wrap around objects like a second skin, contain materials, generate imagery, and delineate space.
This sculpture course examines fibers and their capacity to transform surface, shape, and environment. Students will learn sewing fundamentals, upholstery methods, and pattern-drafting techniques to construct sculptural forms. Through hands-on projects and workshops, we will consider textiles in relation to the human body, interior and exterior spaces, and craft traditions—ultimately exploring how fabric can both reveal and conceal, protect and restrict, soften and structure.
