Introduction to Drawing A with Courtney Applequist
Class | Registration opens 11/19/2025 12:00 AM EST
This is an introductory course designed for beginners who have had no prior experience with drawing. Basic drawing vocabulary and use of materials will be introduced. There will be a range of exercises in this class and each of them will have its own place in the building of skills which will arm the students with the necessary knowledge to take drawing a step further and make it more personal. Process as a means not to an end but as an end itself will be a basis by which this class is taught.
Individual as well as group critiques and discussions will be conducted. By the end of this class students should be able to have an expanded drawing vocabulary, strong technical ability which would enable them to proceed to the next level of drawing (Introduction to Drawing B).
Introduction to Drawing, A, B, & C each build on each other conceptually and will cover Line, Negative Shape, Value, Sighting and Perspective the first five weeks. Students with no prior experience or with advanced drawing skills are able to register for this class. Exercises are designed to accommodate a range of students, from beginners to more experienced students. All three classes are required to fulfill the Foundation Certificate Program requirements. However, they can be taken interchangeably, in any order, as their schedules permit.
