Introduction to Drypoint with Jorge Vara Hernandez

In this course, students will learn the process of creating a Drypoint print using traditional materials. Instruction will cover how to prepare and ink copper plates, creating a print without the use of a ground or acid to etch the plate, and Chine Collé. Additionally, we will briefly go over other forms of engraving such as mezzotint. Explore the expressive potential of “line,” “light,” “form,” and “space,” all levels are welcome, while some drawing experience is recommended, it is not required. 

  • Classes will be held on Federal Holidays unless otherwise communicated by your instructor. 

  • Your instructor has provided a list of materials required to participate fully in this class.
