Methods, Materials and Tools with Milena Spasic

Class | Available

This important class will introduce students to the technical developments in painting and drawing from ancient to modern times.  The emphasis of the class, however, will be on the use of contemporary materials.

Topics covered will include an overview of drawing materials and papers, both dry and wet media, as well as the materials and tools of painting. Students will learn to prepare different types of painting surfaces for their own use, about the different kinds of brushes and pallet knives, paint quality, how to read the label on a paint tube, the difference in and use of various drying oil mediums, different ways to build a painting, and more. Maintaining a safe and healthy studio practice will also be discussed.

Who is this class for: This class is required for certificate students but is an important foundation of valuable information for all painting students.
