The Grid in Mixed Media with Marie B. Gauthiez
Class | Available
This intermediate-level class builds off the principles learned in foundation classes in painting and drawing. The grid is an element that can easily be deployed and understood in both figurative and abstract works. As a structure, the grid has been used front stage throughout the ages, or has acted as a hidden device. It is a versatile tool. Using graphite, charcoal, oil pastels, colored pencils, collage, ink, water-based paints (acrylic or gouache), students will engage in experimentation around the works of artists, past and present.
Presentations, readings, visual research and discussions will come to reinforce our grasp of the meaning of grid and how we can channel it in our own work. The last class will be a group critique
- Supply list will be available soon.
