Gouache: Technique, Color and Pattern in Design with Pooja Campbell

In this course, students will explore the unique properties of gouache while learning principles of color, pattern and design. Through historical and contemporary examples, projects will introduce methods of applying gouache for illustration, pattern and surface design.

  • WSS is closed the week of Thanksgiving, all classes will conclude the first week of December.

  • Materials List - These are the materials you will need to bring with you for this class.
    • Gouache: 6 primary, permanent white, cyan, magenta, cad red deep (Winsor Newton or Holbein)
    • Synthetic paint brushes for watercolor or gouache
    • Masterson paint cups with lids (0.5)
    • Plastic palette with lid
    • Bristol Paper Pad (9x12) or hot pressed watercolor paper
    • Pencil
    • Erasers
    • Ruler
    • Masking tape
    • Tracing sheets
    • Paper towels
    • Sketch book
