Monotype: Visions, Marks, and Impressions with Jorge Vara Hernandez
Class | Currently Unavailable
Students will receive an overview of the Monotype printmaking process to create their own one-of-a-kind Monotypes. Using traditional materials students will learn how to use an intaglio printing press and how to prepare copper plates and paper to be ready for printing. Additionally, we will cover additive and reductive monotype techniques, the Ghost Print, use of mediums to adjust the properties of etching ink, creating texture, and Chine Collé.
Monotype is a printmaking process that blends both the beauty of a painter’s touch and the permanence of a graphic mark. The medium lends itself to spontaneity and experimentation; this course will benefit the artist looking to both study their subject and become looser, and to take more risks.
