Reflective Writing at the Museum with Paul Pietsch
Short Class | Available
This four-week course will focus on writing as a tool for students to develop their individual studio practice. Students will learn and employ writing strategies that help them reflect on what they see at museums, clarify what interests them and why, and identify how they can convert inspiration into studio progress. Each week students will explore a (Metro-accessible) museum in Washington, DC, and—in response to specific writing prompts—analyze what they see as well as explore connections to their own work. Students will refine and consider how to actuate their observations through group discussions.
- NOTE: This course is not focused on professional writing practices or writing for publication. It will address grammar, syntax and style only to the extent that it helps students best articulate ideas for themselves.
- SUPPLIES: sketchbook, pencil and eraser.
