This course will examine expansive ways of thinking about the differences between and definitions of a portrait and a self-portrait. Using a wide variety of drawing and mixed media, both traditional and non-traditional, students will think in terms of identity, perception, and reflection. Work may range from realism to abstract introspection, and may involve a lot more than the face.

Who is this class for: Previous drawing experience and understanding of the structural aspects of the head will be beneficial as this class will move beyond basics into more conceptual, inventive and personal uses of the portrait. The class will push your work to the next level.
