Printmaking: History & Practice with Trisha Gupta

In this class, students will explore non-toxic printmaking techniques. Each week we will study the history of a different printmaking medium, followed by a demonstration and time to work on that technique yourself. This class will cover: Woodblock, Intaglio, Collagraph, and Monotype.
This introductory course is perfect for anyone seeking to create a basic printmaking portfolio and for anyone interested in the history of printmaking.

Students will need 10 sheets of white printmaking paper, 22” by 30” rag paper for intaglio is preferred. WSS has paper available for students to purchase at cost - $8 a sheet
Scrap Materials such as old lace, string, aluminum foil, and plastic bags - your instructor will elaborate on these items and their purpose when needed.
Optional: Students may choose to buy an 8x10" block-mounted linoleum to use, instead of the birch panel provided by WSS.
