Class | Available
’ Throughout art history in every major civilization, the human form has been the center of focus, attention, aesthetics, and architectural derivations...' In this class, we will explore in some detail, practical aspects of artistic human anatomy with the use of live figure models, as well as anatomical displays that clarify, osteology or bones, myology or musculature and we will utilize our own live figure drawings in order to do overlays of bones and muscles. A basic knowledge of human artistic anatomy is essential for the practice of a professional artist. We will accompany these exercises with a trip to the National Gallery to draw from the sculptures of figurative art and also the Museum of Natural History time permitting.
The instructor will bring in anatomical models from his own collection to help the students visualize what is needed. Recommended viewing: videos in artistic anatomy by the late Robert Beverly Hale.
