This class pushes the exploration of ink as a bold and expressive method of drawing. Ink serves as a medium between drawing and painting, borrowing thought processes from both. Students will learn to create various gradations of grays and blacks as a way to demonstrate volume, space, and movement across the surface. As a departure from previous Ink classes, students will work with colored ink and broaden their understanding of the medium. They will grapple with the satisfying challenge that comes from the sustained development of understanding how ink washes create value as well as shapes. Students will work from life; models, still life, and landscapes.
