Known for his visually impressionistic pastel paintings and his popular teaching style, Andrew will share the insights and unique approaches as the students develop paintings of a city scene after a rainstorm, focusing on lights and reflections upon wet surfaces.

  • Andrew McDermott NOTE FOR ALL IAPS WORKSHOPS: You must bring your own portable easel, and a board to support your paper. The room will be set with chairs which can be moved around to suit your preference. You can stand at an easel and use the table for your supplies, or you can bring a table easel and sit to work. Rubbing Alcohol will be provided for the students' use. . IMPORTANT : P lease bring a plastic or cloth sheet to place under your easel, or table, to protect the hotel's carpet. Andrew McDermott's SUGGESTED MATERIALS LIST: What Pastels you have, more the better but at least a good variety of color soft Pastels Brands such as Terry Ludwig, Blue earth, Jack Richeson, Art Spectrum, Sennelier, Mungyo etc. are great… also some Grays and a White…. -Surface, either 1 Dark UART P400 4 ply Board 12x16 OR 1 Sennelier La Carte Pastel paper 19.5”x25.5” (cut downsize for travel 12x16) Charcoal or if not in stock Dark Gray -Masking Tape -wet Wipes or rag/cloth -Easel is optional or can work flat -Drop Cloth -Photo reference will be supplied If you have questions, email Andrew at mcdermottart@hotmail.com
