Learn the craft and art of acting in this class led by a professional actor.  Taught in two semesters over the year, students will learn techniques and strategies to use from audition to stage.
In the first semester, students learn basic acting techniques and how to use their own ideas and feelings to build a performance. Students will work on monologues for auditions and short scenes.  Acting techniques are taught through script analysis and in-class, "on your feet" practice.  This class is suitable for new actors and students who want to prepare audition pieces for the arts high school auditions.
In the second semester, students deepen their understanding of contemporary approaches to acting with take-home assignments and in-class exercises.  Students are paired up to work on scenes that will be performed at the end of the year.  Expect to learn professional rehearsal and performance practices and terminology.
