This class introduces your child to the joy of music making through singing, percussion instruments, dancing, musical games and stories. Basic musical concepts are introduced along with Group Piano Instruction. Your child’s curiosity to play the piano will be enhanced with other classmates through improvisation with sounds, notes and musical stories. Make this your child’s first step to learning and enjoying music!

  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions, classes will be capped at 10 students, social distancing will be observed, and students and faculty will wear masks at all times to ensure the safety of our community.
Itzen, Colleen

With over 20 years of teaching music and movement classes from age 2 through Lower School, Colleen’s specialty is to reinforce teachers' curriculums through singing, movement, playing instruments, musical games and stories, and learning fundamentals of music. Through a multi-sensory, hands-on-approach to learning music, each child's music potential is explored and developed. Percussion, Hand Bells, Recorders, and Orff instruments are taught in conjunction with the curriculum and used in performances. In addition to a percussion background, Colleen teaches piano to all ages, including adults. After graduating Magna Cum Laude in Piano Performance with a Bachelor of Music from Covenant College, she continued her education with classes at the Juilliard School Extension Division, and has certification in the Orff, Kindermusik, and Musikgarten Methods of teaching and is also a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association.)
