PLAYBILL'D nurtures young artists, thinkers, and makers to turn their creative eyes on the world - and to tell us what they see. In this new two-week intensive, teaching artists guide children ages 8-11 through creating an original theater production together. Participants will learn the building blocks of theater and develop their creative talents as they collaborate to produce their own play that will be performed at the end of camp.

  • Each day children will meet in the Greenwich House Theatre at 27 Barrow Street to play games that teach them skills in performance, improv and storytelling. In the first week they will work in small groups to come up with ideas for the performance and teaching artists will help to bring these ideas to life. In the final week, children will choose what scenes and ideas they want to share and work toward the final performance.
  • Over the course of the two weeks, children will learn how to think critically about the messages we create, receive, and put out into the world. They will learn how to give and receive feedback that is constructive and supportive, and they will build in-person relationships in a structured and creative environment that fosters social and emotional learning.
