Students will develop a basic understanding of watercolor objectives including tone, color, color temperature, and color mixing. A variety of techniques, as well as basic sketching and composition, will be covered using landscape as subject matter. Supplies not included.

  • Teens 15+ welcome.
  • Brushes
    (natural hair preferable):
    #12 round
    #3 script
    1-inch flat - optional
    Watercolor paint
    (in pans or in tubes, professional quality).
    If you bye paints in pans, look for the following brands:
    Windsor & Newton, Grumbacher (Academy), Van Gogh, Yarka.
    paper
    Economy Watercolor paper. Size - 10”x14” or bigger.
    Sketchbook or loose sheets of paper in a small folder.

    Palette
    Water jar (16-32 oz)
    Drawing pencil (2B,4B)
    Eraser (soft)
    Sponge
    Masking tape
    Spray bottle (small)
    Masking fluid - optional
     

Igor Macherkevich has a BA in graphic design from Moscow Art College of Design and an MFA from Moscow State Pedagogical University. He is a full-time practicing graphic designer.
