Students will learn the fundamentals of painting with pastels. Use of chalk and oil pastels to build up layers of color and form will be demonstrated step-by-step. Students will work from direct observation and landscape photos. Supplies not included.

  • Teens 15+ welcome.
  • Chalk pastels
    Hard (nupastel by prismacolor) or soft (faber-castell)
    Tinted pastel paper (mi-tientes)
    Spray fixative
    Charcoal or pastel pencils     

Alla Dubrovich has an MFA and BFA from the Moscow Pedagogical University in Moscow, Russia. She is a freelance illustrator and also teaches at the University of Michigan-Flint.
