Learn the anatomy of a good painting while creating a work of your choice. Each week a new concept will be presented, and students are encouraged to create based on this idea. This class will have an open studio feel, with instructor input as needed. 

  • Teens 15+ welcome.
  • For the first day please bring the following-

    • Foam Plates or a Paint Palette
    • Palette Knife
    • Paper Towels and/or rags
    • Fine Art Acrylic Paint Colors – Red, Yellow, Blue, Black & White, and any additional colors you may have or would like to bring.
    • Various Paint Brushes including a large flat and a med. Round, any additional brushes you may have or would like to bring.
    • 1-2 Surfaces: A current acrylic painting you need assistance with and/or Stretched Canvases, Canvas Panels or Primed Boards, your choice
    • Palette Knife
    • 2 water containers and a spray bottle
    • Wear paint clothes or bring an apron
    • Table cover – newsprint, newspaper, plastic tablecloth, your choice
    • Reference material – ex. Personal photos - optional
    • Notebook and pencil     

Tonya Henderson has a degree in Visual Communications from the Colorado Institute of Art, and a diploma from Dubner Training Center in computer graphics. She exhibits nationally and is the owner of Creative Spirit Studios and co-owner of ReTHINKin It.
